Thinking of quitting? Surrender instead.

Quitting and surrendering are related concepts, but they create different approaches to getting the results in your life that you want.

Here are three differences between the two:

  1. Intention
Quitting involves a voluntary decision to stop or give up on a task, goal, or pursuit. It is a conscious choice to discontinue efforts or to withdraw from a particular circumstance. On the other hand, surrendering implies a release of control in a situation or circumstance.

  2. Attitude
Quitting can be seen as an act of giving up, which can create feelings of frustration, disappointment, or defeat. You might perceive quitting as a negative action, making it mean that you have not been able to overcome challenges or achieve the outcome you wanted. Surrendering, on the other hand, can be seen as an act of acceptance, which can create a sense of peace, letting go, or allowing things to unfold naturally. This is a more positive action because it gives you permission to say peace-out to resistance.

  3. Consequences: Quitting and surrendering also have different consequences. Quitting *might* result in missing out on opportunities or a sense of unfulfilled potential. Surrendering, on the other hand, results in acceptance of a situation, letting go of attachment and finding peace or resolution.

The difference between letting go and giving up.

Buddha says that the root of all suffering is attachment. Of course, he was super enlightened and we are just humans in this great experiment. With coaching we are focused on creating results in your life AND at the same time letting go of attachment to any particular outcome. Who knows? The universe just have more in mind for you than you even know.

While both quitting and surrendering involve stopping something, they differ in terms of intention, attitude, context, and consequences. Quitting is a voluntary decision to stop making the effort, while surrendering equals acceptance of a situation and an understanding that many things are beyond your control. And that is ok because we don't need to have all the answers right now, just the next right one.
