If you don’t seek it, you won’t see it

In Break My Soul, the Queen encourages us to quit our jobs to save ourselves. I get it!!

But as much as we’d all love to chuck our jobs and peace out for peace, it may not be practical for all of us (yet?). But we can look at where we can let go of things that no longer serve us.

First, we need to accept that our thoughts create our realities. Thoughts are incredibly powerful and dictate what is working in our lives and what isn’t. We generally attribute what works to circumstances and believe that if we change circumstances (break-up, make up, move, quit) then our experience will change.

But that is the easy, temporary fix. If we dig deeper into Bey’s advice, the magic can be found in the new vibration, which is a deeper journey that helps us build the foundation for an increased awareness of our feelings that push us to create the results we want in our relationships, work and life.

For me, the “aha” was found in understanding that I don’t owe anybody anything – other than myself. When I got divorced a few years ago, I believed that I needed to help other people be comfortable with the end of my own relationship. I put my own discomfort ahead of their comfort. I found that this people pleasing habit was fueled by the thought that I’m not allowed to disappoint people because I was a GOOD GIRL. And good girls help people feel better, even when something isn’t any of their business.

And isn’t this what we love about Beyonce? She gives us permission to act out, say what’s on our minds, be liberated and even disagreeable at times. Most importantly she helps us understand that sometimes it’s ok to be a BAD(ASS) GIRL.

We can take our beliefs and examine them to see if they are serving us. If not, we can CHANGE them (gasp!) to new beliefs that support us in thinking thoughts that allow us to be whoever and whatever we want. Seek it, be it.
